The entire reception is covered by with a dynamic boundary-wrapping installation of colour, form and pattern.
The show has been mounted overnight, by wrapping and hand-tearing the large-scale paper artwork. It has been specifically created to fit and play within the DigitasLBi space.
The work takes its inspiration from the patterns and textiles of east London as a graphic expression of expanding limits and finding freedom in the unknown.
All these motifs find their own meaning once merged together with the artist’s experience.
The result is an installation that reinterprets the creative energy of London by a newcomer.
Joel Derksen is a multi-award-winning designer, originally from Canada. After several years working in Toronto he joined the global innovation consultancy IDEO. He’s worked with international brands such as Budweiser, Nike and Carlsberg. Joel moved to London to produce work that links the edges of design and art.
